Big Smiles Going into "Moon"day
Excellent win tonight, Red Sox! The Wake pitches a FANTASTIC game and crosses home plate while he's at it. In fact, he had a hit earlier in the game and would have had a chance to score if he wasn't hitting on 2 outs. GT's (Good Times) all around! I listened to the game from my painting studio tonight. I am finally getting back into a series I started last year, an ode to Central Square.

The husband guy came up with a great idea for a t-shirt. Are you all familiar with the Andre the Giant symbol, or Obey the Giant (spraypainted on city streets domestically and abroad)? If not, here it is:

Okay, barring any sort of copyright issues, how cool would it be to create a similar image, but with a stylized version of Papi's face and OBEY under it? That would simply kick ass. I am willing to experiment with this. If you have seen this somewhere, please let me know if I am wasting my time. God, I have a lot of projects going. And they are all so, so meaningless.

Speaking of the husband: He found a very amusing clip today. I don't know who filmed it, but I can assure you that it is legit. Click here for a good chuckle. A little hint:

Enjoy!

If you did not actually see Timmy Wakefield running the bases, you missed a good one. He took an extra step to make sure he did not miss third, but he never stopped moving as fast as he could and ran 270' and got there two feet before the ball arrived.

He knew it would break the game open if he scored, and it did.

I was painting, and therefore missed it. Eric had the TV, I had the radio. I'm kinda sad that I didn't get to see it with my own eyes. Oh, well - there will be replays on the World Series DVD.

was anyone else yelling obscenities at Jon Miller & Joe Morgan last night besides me? I can't stand to listen to them. They are such biased bandwagon losers who spew on about things they've already deemed irrelevant to the game (ie Pedro - he's not here, the current lineup is) but we'll go on in an incredibly annoying fashion for ten minutes anyway. Every time they mentioned a positive stat for the Sox, they countered with negative ones. Not so for the Cubs. And the first 7 innings were all about the Cubs, because they thought the Cubs would win. Even mentioned a sweep numerous times. Also dragging up the curse which has nothing to do with Chicago. In the 7th they had to admit they were wrong & jumped over to the Sox's wagon. That was the first time they acknowledged that Wake was doing a great job. There were a few other facts they reluctantly had to share, but not with as much enthusiasm or ever pointing out that the Sox out hit the Cubs by double.

And why do they have to show us their ugly fat mugs? They wouldn't be on television if they were women, no way. Can you imagine bald fat women announcing on the WPGA or women's tennis? It'll never happen.

Ok, I got the rest of it out. Until the next ESPN game. I hope it's a long way off.

In this regard, I am glad I listened to the Italian Stallions, Castiglione and Trupiano. There is a media bias, outside the area, and it's not in our favor. I've noticed this with the Pats, too. It took a few SB victories before we were taken seriously.

The Cubs still have that weird billy goat curse, don't they?

We've come a long way, baby, but not long enough to allow fat balding women announcing professional sports. I have to relunctantly agree that I don't see it ever happening, either. Women are good enough to watch, but only the beautiful ones are lucky enough to announce. Love the double standard.

We should have watched in mute mode with the radio on. We've done that before. It's a little harder to follow but Mr. Joey will appreciate a more peaceful game, I'm sure.

All during the first few innings Joe Morgan commented that the Sox don't seem to have any sense of urgency about turning their game around & winning because 4 of the starters were out of the line up. They both came close to saying that management doesn't know what they're doing. That train of thought was never gone back to later in the game, however. They were also spewing any bad stats they could come up with about our batters - but almost every time there was a negative comment about someone, they got a hit. (Mr. Joey was keeping track of this) Amongst the skewed commentary, there were nuggets of justice.

The Pats definitely had their share of no respect - it took the 3rd victory for many of the sports talk guys to admit the team is good.

I'm just looking for fairness, that's all. Maybe cheerful-voiced robots would be better on the national level. Just facts without prejudice. And no Jon Miller speculation about which direction the sun was setting. Doofus. As if sometimes it sets in the north or something in Chicago.

Ok, onward and upward. I'm a glass half full kind of girl, myself. I even have a positive blood type. Once in awhile you have to purge the trash, tho. We won. That's what counts. Yippie! And we're only 3 games back...

Right on! We won! No sweep for you!

I share in your frustration - no sense of urgency? What is it that motivates such nonsense? They seem to project a holier than thou attitude while announcing, but they always say a player's name wrong or use an entirely incorrect name.

I wonder if other teams' fans have these complaints when their games are broadcast on ESPN or whatever.
