Ahoy, Matey!
Josh Fogg (born in Lynn, Mass - 1 town away from me) is taking the mound (ERA = 4.31) for the Pirates. It is pronounced: Fog. I bet the Pittsburgh press has a field day with his name. Oh, speaking of baseball names, visit Andrew for a good post on the subject. Last time the Pirates and the Sox got together, they were wearing those "old time" baseball uniforms. I still have a pic of them all sitting in the dugout wearing those rather roomy shirts. Todd Walker is in it (*sigh*). Watching this game is like playing Playstation MLB with the husband.
(Not that any of you care much, but ... ) Kerry and I have a full day of activities planned for tomorrow:
1. Heading to the MFA for a quilting exhibit. Not just any, reader. The Gee's Bend Quilters. Since I haven't seen the show and cannot give it a worthy review, I will paste a snippet from the MFA website:
“The Quilts of Gee’s Bend” features more than sixty quilts made between 1930 and 2000 by four generations of quilt makers, resulting in a body of work that is bold, colorful, and unique.
What gives the quilts of Gee’s Bend, Alabama, their particular power? One look gives you a sense of their originality and graphic impact. The Gee’s Bend quilters inventively combine materials to form bold, abstract compositions that reveal a genius for color and geometry. These quilts, sometimes pieced from worn clothing, were originally made for practical use, often piled in layers on beds for warmth.
Learn about the quilters and their isolated river-bend community— formerly part of the Pettway Plantation—and gain a sense of the unusually cohesive artistic tradition, shared by many generations of African American women, that lies behind each scrap of fabric and boldly assembled pattern.
Take a look-see:

Mo has already seen this show and had nothing but the highest praise. I am really excited.
2. Finding sustenance. From somewhere. A place that has alternatives to mammals. I only do birds and fish. I've been a vegetarian in training, ever since I saw this documentary a while ago ... you know what? I am not a preachy type, so go ahead and enjoy your hot dogs! Boston or New York varieties. Whatever your pleasure may be.
3. Throwing and catching in the Fens. I love doing this, so Kerry, if you are reading, please know that you will probably have to be the one to put the breaks on.
4. Working our way over to the player entrance (around 2:30). Just can't get enough.
5. Aimless wandering until the gates open.
6. Watching the Red Sox win game 2 of the series at Fenway Park.
Aye, I am hoping that I won't shiver me timbers tomorrow night. I am bringing a lot more with me, clothing-wise, this time.
Random question: It seems that lots of food/beverage items I buy these days (coffee, sandwich wraps, what have you) yields me under 5 cents change. I find it to be insulting to put anything less than a quarter in someone's tip jar. I hate carrying change, though, as I have a tiny "man" wallet (2" X 3.5"). So, what is the etiquette? I would think, unless you have a decent amount of change or you are feeling especially generous (sometimes I leave a buck for a 2 dollar coffee, depends on my humor), you probably shouldn't deposit a few straggling pennies in the jar. Just curious.
[Oh, and on a blog support note ... I realize that LiveJournal sucks. I started my blog after almost no research. The next day, the husband came home and announced that LiveJournal was considered to be like the Dawson's Creek of blog providers, he learned from coworkers. I've been regretting and complaining about it here since. I don't have enough available time or energy to migrate elsewhere. So, in the meantime, jab away.]
Bottom of the 2nd: Pittsburgh 3, Boston 4. (Bellhorn just had a 3-run homer. 1 game too late.)
